Welcome to HOME VIDEO HAVEN.
Established in 2024, HOME VIDEO HAVEN is a UK-based blog celebrating physical media. From VHS and DVD to Blu-ray and 4K, HOME VIDEO HAVEN brings together a collection of home video releases for casual collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The aim of this blog is to showcase what is available, and what was available, on physical media. Whether it is a new release or a title from the archives, HOME VIDEO HAVEN has space for it all.
Streaming and video-on-demand may be the preferred viewing option for the 21st Century, but there’s still plenty of room for discs and cassettes – you merely need the equipment! There’s something special about owning a hard copy of a much-loved movie or television show and HOME VIDEO HAVEN is here to preserve and champion this.
Each post will take a look at a specific physical media release (usually from my own collection), and will talk about it in detail, highlighting any special features or notable information about the title. These posts will then act as a guide to point you in the right direction of titles you might like to hunt down as you expand your collection.
Behind the scenes
HOME VIDEO HAVEN is produced by Manchester-based writer, editor, and blogger Alex Wiggan. With a background in film & television studies, a broad interest in all things nerdy, and an ever-expanding assortment of Blu-rays, Alex publishes trusted content for fellow collectors.
Alex is a film fan, critic, and author, frequent cinema visitor, ex-video rental store employee, and someone who knows his way around a DVD player. After dipping his toes into the digital realm he began to lose interest in streaming, has re-embraced physical media, and is building up his collection one disc at a time.
His first DVD was Blade, his most played Blu-ray is Grease, and his favourite film is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He also owns far too many copies of the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher Batman movies from the ’80s and ’90s.
