In 1995, Paramount Pictures released the superb teen comedy, Clueless. The movie -directed by Amy Heckerling – starred Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, and Paul Rudd, and followed the story of a 15-year-old student named Cher, living in Beverly Hills.
The film combined high school drama with witty dialogue and was a big hit with audiences and critics alike. Upon release it quickly made a name for itself as one of the best teen films of the ’90s, and to this day it has a growing and loyal fanbase.
In 2020, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Clueless, Paramount released a limited edition boxset of the movie. The set – known as the ‘As If‘ edition – was loaded up with bonus features and supplementary material, as well as a copy of the film on Blu-ray and DVD.

All of the contents of this boxset were housed in an outer slip case which sported three of the film’s stars on the front cover (Dash, Silverstone, and Murphy). On the back, was a rundown of all the bonus material, as well as an all-important synopsis of the film.
The synopsis read as follows:
‘After 25 years, Clueless remains a smart, charming, and hilarious classic that truly captures what it was like to be a teen in the 1990s. Alicia Silverstone shines as the 15-year-old Beverly Hills High School student who thrives on shopping, enjoys the perfect social life, and plays matchmaker to all her friends… just don’t ask her who she’s dating, AS IF!’

Once the slipcase was removed, the set opened up into a treasure trove of goodies, including a quote-based card game, a collection of faux-Polaroid art cards, a report card, and more. All of this was housed inside a purple-coloured inner box, designed to look like a year book.

As you can see, there was a significant amount of content in the boxset. Here’s what the Clueless ‘As If‘ set included:
- A HD copy of Clueless on Blu-ray (Disc 1)
- A SD copy of Clueless on DVD (Disc 2)
Special features
- The Class of ’95 – A look at the cast, then and now
- Creative writing with writer/director Amy Heckerling
- A clue or false trivia game
- Fashion 101
- Language Arts
- ‘Suck ‘N Blow’ – A tutorial
- Driver’s Ed
- We’re History – Stories from the cast and crew
- Trailers in HD
Supplementary material
- An outer slipcase
- An inner ‘year book’ box
- A booklet containing production notes
- A card game
- A collection of Polaroid-style art cards
- A report card
- A Clueless film poster
- A Blu-ray/DVD card sleeve featuring images from the movie

As a big fan of Clueless I simply had to add this anniversary release to my collection. The movie is available on many formats, including digital, so it’s not likely to disappear any time soon, but a boxset like this one doesn’t come around all too often so I didn’t want to snooze on it.
Having the movie on Blu-ray and DVD provides me with multiple viewing options (or simply a spare DVD in reality), while all of the supplementary material is a fun touch. The beauty of physical media is the way in which it adds depth and tangibility to a beloved film, and this limited edition ‘As If‘ release certainly does this in spades.
Oh, and the best thing? It cost me just £9.99. What a bargain!
