If you didn’t catch All of Us Strangers at the cinema in late 2023/early 2024, and you don’t subscribe to Disney+, then chances are this BAFTA nominated LGBTQ+ drama may have passed you by. And depending on where you live in the world, All of Us Strangers may continue to pass you by, as it isn’t getting an extensive release on physical media.

Why? Because Disney is downplaying its physical output these days and as All of Us Strangers was produced by Searchlight Pictures (a subsidiary of Disney), it is falling through the physical media gap.

Well, that is unless you live in the UK, where the movie is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray. And as a fully-fledged, card-carrying Brit, I am thankful for its availability over here.

But that’s not all – the good thing is, even if you don’t live in the UK, you can take advantage of this release. The Blu-ray (which is featured in this post) is compatible with Region A, B, and C, so if you live overseas and you can afford the shipping costs, you can pick up this title and add it to your collection!

So, should you consider picking up this Blu-ray? Yes.

While it may not be loaded with extensive bonus material, it may be one of the only ways to get hold of this film on hard copy. We are in an era where Blu-ray and DVD releases aren’t guaranteed any more, and the same goes for upgrades to 4K etc, so I’m afraid you have to grab what you can, when you can.

The good thing is, All of Us Strangers is an excellent movie. I’ll provide you with the synopsis (from the back cover) below so you have a feel for the film, followed by snippet from my review on my sister blog, It’s A Stampede!.

Here’s the synopsis:

“One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”

And here’s a snippet of what I said in my five-star review:

All of Us Strangers is a mesmerising, heartfelt and heartbreaking film which tells its story in the most beautiful way. It has the power to move, and is recommended for those looking for something deep and meaningful to get lost in.”

So, the film is a winner, but what else is on offer? Well, the contents of the Blu-ray include the movie on HD disc, plus two bonus featurettes: Roots of the Story and Building Adam’s World.

In addition, this release includes a limited edition fold-out movie poster (see below). Personally I’m not a huge fan of the poster, but I imagine others will find it more appealing than I do.

Either way, I appreciate the inclusion of additional bonus content such as this, which isn’t highlighted on the packaging, but has been slipped into the case as an added extra.

All of Us Strangers was one of the best movies of 2023/2024 and it really does deserve a place on your shelf. And even if it doesn’t end up on your shelf, I have a copy on mine.
